Hamburger and Movie Night – Ahuroa Hall

Hi Everyone

The Ahuroa Hall committee would like to invite everyone along to a Hamburger and Movie night at the Hall – next Saturday 14th May. Doors open from 5pm – everyone helps themselves to a burger, then we grab some popcorn and settle down for the movie around 6:30/7pm. Feel free to bring pillows or bean bags. It’s a cheap night out at only $5 per burger, but please make sure you RSVP!

After MUCH discussion the movie will be Clifford the Big Red Dog. Its a super sweet and hilarious family movie that the not-so-old and not-so-young should both enjoy!

Hope to see you all there!

If anyone knows who it belongs to, please let me know or get them to contact me.

Forest Bridge Trust – Trapping

Calling local families!

The Forest Bridge Trust are wanting to support families to manage their own trapline in the Ahuroa area to protect our native species.

What’s involved:

  • Attending a free local morning workshop on Sunday 10 April from 10am-12pm at the Ahuroa Community Hall to find out about the programme and get trained up – please bring the kids along too.
  • Joint a group of families that check a trapline between them (commitment about 2 hours, once every 4-6 weeks)
  • Fitness? Maybe some hills, a bit strenuous – but not too challenging.
  • You’ll have to be OK with dead pests
  • Trap checking equipment provided
  • Enjoy being part of the wider Forest Bridge Trust project

Contact [email protected] for more information or to RSVP to the workshop.

Missing tabby cat

She’s been missing before and has become a bit of a wonderer but this time has just been too long for her to not come home. Her name is Zippy, she’s 4years old and has white tipped feet at the front and white legs at the back, she has a very pink nose and a white bib. She’s missing from Hawkens Road, Ahuroa.
She had lost her collar when she was last home, she is chipped.

Call Sarah on 0210652576 – Thanks so much

Suspicious visitor…

I had a visit yesterday afternoon from a young man, swarthy complexion, who I found wandering around by my front door. I went out to see who it was because the dog barked, he turned round and asked if I could fill his water bottle for him. Possibly an innocent request but if that was the case then surely he would have knocked on the door or called out, but he did neither. Anyway, rego of his ute is AZZ 279. I thought it was black but the police said they had that number as a green ute – it could have been a dirty green one. Anyway, it may be totally innocent but I know that there have been chainsaw thefts in the area recently so just putting it out there to be aware that the Christmas Shoppers may be starting early this year.

UPDATE:
Whilst writing this post there was another suspicious sighting outside my property (on Wech Access) today around 2.20pm – some guy with bleached hair, stocky build, having a wee on the side of the road then appearing to check out the properties either side. This isn’t the place a normal person would stop on the side of the road. Again, may not be suspicious but I think it is. White car (looked a bit like a toyota corolla) rego MBD 804.
