Missing Cat – from Wech Access since Thursday 25th April.
Basil is a large black cat with a rather small white tuft on his chest. He does appear a burnt brown colour when the sun shines on his fur though.
He is a large, moderately long haired neutered boy with a handsome face and a tail reminiscent of Basil Brush (hence the name).
He is a rescue that has been with us coming up 3 years. He can be rather nosy, and may have adventured in to a temporarily open shed or shipping container.
Basil is chipped and has been listed as missing. Please can anyone operating cat traps check them.
Also if you have had a sealed building open the last few days, could you have a quick peek for him.
My girls and I miss him a lot, and would like to have him home, but we would just like to know, even if the news isn’t the greatest.
Please email sightings to Robyn; firstname.lastname@example.org or send a text only to 021 083 12892

A message from Kerry:
My husband, Andy Shackleton who lived at 1176 Ahuroa Road for 16 years and who started the Grapevine has passed away suddenly yesterday 26th April. I hope you can pass that on so our Ahuroa friends will know.

So we have a good-news ending to our ‘Found Tabby Cat’ saga. – It turns out that this is ‘Dickie‘ a cat which has been away from home for just more than a year!
And to top things off this morning, before his Mum came around he was starting to relax and purr for us…. 🙂
A happy ending all round, thank you so much to everyone who called, txt’d, and got involved with this in one way or another.
This old boy is still with us (Martin Access Rd), he’s being fed and looked after in our laundry for now but can’t stay here. So far we’ve failed to find his family. He is quite comfortable around people and so it’s clear he has been someone’s pet. – He’s not chipped, so we’re not going to reunite him that way… if anyone knows of a lost, solidly built, older, tabby male, neutered cat can they please get in touch?
Alternatively, if you would like to adopt this older fella (and don’t have cats of your own – he was scrapping with our two), then we’d consider rehoming him directly, that would be a good outcome.
We can’t keep him here and will be looking to move him to a shelter either over the weekend or during next week.
Please share this with your friends.

A large and tame, tabby cat has been hanging around our place for the past couple of weeks. It’s pretty tame and very used to humans so it’s clearly not a stray.
We think it’s male due it’s size and behaviour. Tonight we’ve managed to lock him in our laundry so that we can find his home. We’ll be scanning him tomorrow and then taking him to a rescue if he’s not local or identifiable. He’s an old boy with what looks like the start of cataracts in one eye. Please see photos below:
If you know who’s boy this might be then we’d love to see him get home. Please phone / txt Chris on 021624717.
