Morning!

There is quite a bad slip on the unsealed hill heading down towards Puhoi – about half way down, the road is half covered with earth blocking the west bound lane.

If heading west, it is dangerous.

People need to be extra cautious.

All flooding appears to have subsided now. If you know of any lasting issues let us know.

This slip has been reported to Akl Council.

Thanks to Jeff and Alison for telling us about this one.

Regards, Chris.

News: SPARK cell coverage about to improve.

Our thanks to Eli from Lothlorien for the following information.

A few weeks ago I asked Spark if and when they intend to provide cell coverage from the new tower on Woodcocks hill. I have finally heard back that ”…there are plans to upgrade next month….”
Next month being September.

Cheers & Kind Regards
Eli DeMeulemeester

Spark’s more detailed email back to Eli is included below:

RE: Cell network expansion/coverage
Hi Eli,
Good news, there are plans to upgrade next month, so fingers crossed that the new tower will provide the level of coverage you need!
There are 3 sectors on this tower which point in particular directions so customers in direct line of site to those sectors should experience good coverage.
Thanks
Cecilia

Concern over the state of the roads – note to the council.

Hi there,
I just submitted this message to Akld City Council: –

“AHUROA ROAD: There’s really bad rows of potholes on some corners that people try to drive around – exposing them to oncoming traffic. Same can be said for corrugations – they’re really bad on Ahuroa Hill. The answer is to seal the road as it’s no sooner graded than the potholes & corrugations are back within a few weeks.
If someone wants/needs to drive on the left hand side of the road – the corrugations & potholes just destroy your car’s suspension. Are the Council liable for damaged cars or head-on accidents due to avoiding potholes & corrugations? What do OSH have to say about this serious public hassard? There’s nothing wrong with the rates money the Ahuroa Road residents pay Council each year is there? So why is there a risk driving this road?”

To make a report you go to this link: –
https://at.govt.nz/about-us/contact-us/report-a-problem/

Would it be an idea to broadcast this link & encourage others to submit photos & complaints?

Cheers
