Our next Board meeting is set for Monday the 16th November at 6.30pm.

The purpose of the Ahuroa School Board is to provide great governance, through the key areas of Leadership, Accountability, Representation, and as an Employer. The Board isn’t responsible for the day to day running and management of the school – this role is delegated to the Principal.

Our Board generally meets once a month at school, although on occasion we may meet elsewhere for professional development, or via Zoom.

Whilst Board meetings are open to the public, they are not public meetings. What this means is that although members of the public are welcome to attend meetings, they may not speak or bring an agenda item to the meeting without the prior approval of the Chair.

You are welcome to attend one of our Board meetings to observe us in action! It’s a good idea to let the Board Chair know prior to the meeting that you are coming, so we can ensure our meeting room is set up, provide you with the Agenda, and let you know if there are any agenda items where the public will be excluded (this is also known as being ‘in-committee’, is mostly to protect the privacy of individuals, and means that members of the public must leave the meeting during that particular Agenda item).

We are working to upgrade our school website so that our Minutes and Agendas are easily accessible, however in the meantime, you are welcome to contact either [email protected] or our Board secretary [email protected] for these.

And if you’d like more information about the work of the Board, this is also a good place to start: https://www.nzsta.org.nz/assets/Publications/Making-A-Difference-booklet-2019.pdf. The next Board election will be held in 2022, so you might start thinking about it now!
