End of an era – Puhoi scrap metal collection comes to a close

We would like to inform the community that we will no longer collect scrap steel for our Brigade fundraising-as of 10th February onwards.

We thank everyone one who has contributed their scrap steel over the last 8 years, but for several reasons it usefulness has come to an end.

The unsightliness of a pile of scrap steel at the site of the old fire station, on the main thoroughfare through Puhoi is now unwelcome.

Please contact Alexandras Scrap Metal directly on 09 4269150 to arrange collections, or better still you can take it direct to their yard in 35 Forge Road Silverdale.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE- no more scrap to be dropped off at 1 Ahuroa Road from tomorrow, Saturday 10.

Thank you, Chief Fire Officer Russell Green 021655461

Puhoi Village Market (Sun, 25th Feb) celebrates its 10th birthday

Visit the Puhoi Village Market on Sunday 25 February at the Sports Club grounds, 9am – 1pm. It is our 10th birthday so we are wanting to celebrate this milestone, and party it up.

Lots of family entertainment, great music, bouncy castle, water slide, spot prizes, the famous Tomato Competition, dog photography, yoga, cutting the birthday cake and acknowledgements to those wonderful people who have supported the Puhoi Village Market over the past 10 years.

Music this month is provided by Auckland duo Didelli, local group the Dirt Road Orchestra and a family friendly drum circle.

Local community groups like our own Puhoi Volunteer Fire Force, Foodbank NZ, Dog Rescue, Community Police Patrol and Warkworth Theatre Group will be there to let you know how you can join or support them.

The Market Committee will give a donation to three groups that are helping and / or bringing pleasure to lots of people within our community.

Colourful stalls offer local and seasonal produce, organic fruit and veges, delicious healthy food and coffee and party food like candy floss and ice cream. Other stalls are selling plants, garden sculptures, outdoor furniture, jewelry, knitwear, colourful clothes, natural soaps, candles, body oils, art, and much more.

We have new stalls for you to check out this month such as Cloud 9 Kites which bring a colourful selection of kites and flying tools, Joydah’s organic popcorn made on the spot and Foodbank NZ who are selling donated goods to fund their important cause.

Tomato competition – bring your best home-grown tomato/s, the winning one will be judged by the most popular vote. Open to any age. A fun competition.

Located in the heart of Historic Puhoi Village this market is a relaxed and friendly affair, a place to support our local community, socialize, and listen to live music.

This is a great venue, with a play area for the kids and free parking.

Any inquiries to Puhoi Village Market Team 0274 27 0440, looking forward to seeing you all there.

Jaqui Barrett, market manager
