Suspicious visitor…

I had a visit yesterday afternoon from a young man, swarthy complexion, who I found wandering around by my front door. I went out to see who it was because the dog barked, he turned round and asked if I could fill his water bottle for him. Possibly an innocent request but if that was the case then surely he would have knocked on the door or called out, but he did neither. Anyway, rego of his ute is AZZ 279. I thought it was black but the police said they had that number as a green ute – it could have been a dirty green one. Anyway, it may be totally innocent but I know that there have been chainsaw thefts in the area recently so just putting it out there to be aware that the Christmas Shoppers may be starting early this year.

UPDATE:
Whilst writing this post there was another suspicious sighting outside my property (on Wech Access) today around 2.20pm – some guy with bleached hair, stocky build, having a wee on the side of the road then appearing to check out the properties either side. This isn’t the place a normal person would stop on the side of the road. Again, may not be suspicious but I think it is. White car (looked a bit like a toyota corolla) rego MBD 804.

Ahuroa Community Hall AGM – February 28th

Hi Everyone

The Ahuroa Community Hall AGM will be held on February 28th at 32 Clifford Rd, Ahuroa.

This is a meeting that is open to the Ahuroa Community to see and engage with our committee and the running of our Community Hall.

As of last year, our committee became an incorporated society and anyone is allowed to become a member at no cost. We ask our current members to attend if possible and If you would like to become a member we will have forms to sign you up at the AGM.

We are looking for more wonderful people to join our committee and help run events for our thriving little community – again please get it contact with our committee or come to the AGM to be a part of it.

This is a private residence of one of our committee members and there is not a large amount of parking so we ask attendees to park on the road before coming up. Doors open 6:30pm and the Meeting will commence at 7pm.

To follow current restrictions we will be outside on the deck, in the fresh air and social distancing is recommended.

Hope to see some of you there.

Wanted: Shared transport to Warkworth

Hi.

I am hoping that there is an Ahuroa resident that is commuting to Warkworth who would be interested in sharing transport costs. My daughter is working for Noel Leemings in Warkworth Tuesday to Saturday 8.30am until shortly after 5.00pm. We live on West Coast Rd, not far from Hawkins Rd.

If you are able to help on any of these days it would be appreciated and an amount for petrol can be agreed upon.

Cat found on roadside…

I have found a cat (unfortunately not alive) by the side of West Coast Rd between Hawkins Rd and the one lane bridge going west. The cat is a white fluffy cat with ginger / apricot points. It definitely looks like someone’s pet, not a stray.

I have brought the cat home and buried it as it seemed wrong to leave it there. If this is your cat, I am sorry for the sad news but personally I think it is better to know.

Wanted: Corrugated iron water tanks

Hi folks

We are on the hunt for a couple of corrugated iron water tanks.
Free or cheap and reasonably easy access for pick up.
They don’t need to hold water but would prefer they were reasonably sound.
Some dents and a bit of rust is fine.

Cheers
