Puhoi Village Market is back on Sunday 28 Jan

After a lovely break over the Xmas and New Year the Puhoi Village Market is back on Sunday 28 Jan, 9am – 1pm.

This Market is offering a Car Boot Sale. We still have a couple of spaces available so if you are pondering about selling or rehoming all that stuff that is no longer useful to you, now is the time to contact us and book your spot.

Music this Market is from In2strings. Kiwi born violin virtuoso Nick Jones teams up with Pretoria’s Petrus Fourie on guitar to make up this instrumental duo.

We are also excited to introduce “Give Yoga a go” with Shelley Charlton at this Puhoi Village Market. It is Outdoor Yoga consisting of stretches, standing & balance poses, no mat or experience required. Shelley is a highly qualified instructor (as mentioned in NZ Women’s Weekly) and has introduced many absolute beginners to yoga. This class will be on the sports field 11-11:30am. No charge. For further information go to www.freeyogaonthebeach.com.

Helpers – Wanting to give back to our Community?
We need helpers to set up then pack down tables etc on our monthly Market days. One or 2 people wanted from 7.30 – 9am, then again from 1 – 2pm. We will pay a small token of $20 for the morning and $20 for the pack down stint. If you are interested / available (either as a one-off or a regular) we would be really grateful. Currently the committee are doing this as well as running stalls etc. so any help would be great.

PUHOI PRE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE MARKET

Visit the Puhoi Village Market between 9am and 1pm on Sunday 26th November at the Sports Club grounds. It is a Christmas affair, so time to stock up your pantry and think about gifts for your loved ones.

Colourful stalls, which include local and seasonal produce, organic fruit and veges, honey, coffee, cheese, nuts, preserves, chutneys and sauces, samosas, deli foods, olive oil, crepes and ice cream, fresh juice and a sausage sizzle. Other great stalls are selling plants, garden sculptures, jewellery, knitwear, colourful clothes, natural soaps, candles, face & body oils, flax weaving, art, photography and much more. We have new stalls to check out this month as well as our old favorites.

Santa has been invited to drop in and meet the children between 10.30 and 11.30am, and there is a kid’s corner where the little ones can colour in pictures and write and post a letter to Santa.

Located in the heart of historic Puhoi Village this market is a relaxed and friendly affair, a place to support our local community, socialize, and listen to live music. Entertainment this month is by musician David Four, and around 10am there will be a drum circle, suitable for kids and adults to have a go.

This is a family – friendly venue with a play area for the kids and free parking.

Also taking place on the same day is an invitation from the Puhoi Fire Brigade to visit the Puhoi Fire Station Open Day, 52 Ahuroa Road, Puhoi. They have a flash new station which they want to show off to you and you can meet the amazing men and women who volunteer their time and skills for us.

Looking forward to seeing you all there,

the Puhoi Village Market committee

PUHOI VILLAGE MARKET’S BIG SPRING FESTIVAL THIS SUNDAY

Dear Puhoi residents and friends of our community,

Our local Seedsavers group is bringing, predictably and welcomedly, seedlings, while Sue will be sizzling her popular vegetarian samosas, the Matakantata choir will be selling bulbs as a choir fundraiser, and Puhoi’s Bohemian folk dance group will be swinging its skirts (and hitching up its trousers) in a dance performance at around 11am.

Meanwhile, Pip will be selling her bacon butties and there will be other breakfast and snack opportunities – see the market’s facebook page, www.facebook.com\puhoivillagemarket for pictures of other stallholders.

Market participators are encouraged to celebrate the new season and add colour to the market with a suitably-decorated hat, says new manager Dave Dodsworth, and please remind people on the way north to the Matakana Sunday market that Puhoi, with its own market, is a great stopping off place for riverside picknicking and food outlets such as the cheese cafe with its award-winning ice cream, Puhoi Cottage cafe with its garden setting, the Puhoi Store, which also sells food, and the Puhoi Hotel, with its Bistro.

On a more serious note, please look out, also, at the market for a Civil Defence and Neighbourhood Support stall with information and children’s workbooks on preparing ourselves and dealing with local civil emergencies and crisis management. With thanks to our Mahurangi -area CD and NS colleagues for helping us man the stall and answer your questions.

Now, I’m off to Warkworth to help the people there with their Kowhai Festival HUGE DAY OUT.

Please keep safe on the roads this weekend and pray for FINE WEATHER!

With affection, as always,Judith Williams
